Willen is a district in the Campbell Park parish of Milton Keynes, built around Willen Lake — a balancing lake on the River Ouzel designed to control flash flooding.

The lake shapes access more than anything else. The south section has watersports, boat hire, an inflatable aqua park, splash parks and cycle paths, and it is genuinely busy in season; the north section is a wildlife sanctuary with restricted vehicle access. For anything close to either, we plan the parking and the loading route before the day rather than on it.

The housing is predominantly modern new-town stock, which makes the work itself straightforward once we are there: parking bays or driveways, wider doorways, room to load. Volume tends to matter more than manoeuvring, so an honest description of how much there is gets you the closest quote.

The Church of St Mary Magdalene, completed in 1680 to a design by Robert Hooke, is Grade I listed and an early English Baroque building. The Peace Pagoda, built in 1980, was the first in the western hemisphere. Willen Hospice and St Michael's Priory are also here — useful landmarks, and places where access needs arranging rather than assuming.
