Garden Clearance in Great Linford

Great Linford is one of the more dramatic examples of what the new city did to north Milton Keynes. It had 263 people in 1971 and 11,882 by 1981 — and 20,716 at the 2021 census. It sits between Wolverton and Newport Pagnell, about two miles north of the centre.

That means the overwhelming majority of what we clear here is 1970s-and-later planned estate housing, taking in Pennyland, Giffard Park and Blakelands. New town stock of that period is predictable and generally easy to work in: parking bays or driveways, wider doorways, and room to load.

Because the housing is largely of a few eras, the jobs repeat — full clearances on sale or probate, loft and garage clear-outs, end-of-tenancy turnarounds. Those quote differently from one another, so saying which you have gets you a closer figure.

The old core is quite separate. Great Linford Manor is seventeenth-century, and Sir William Prichard built the almshouses and school-house beside the church in 1702; the former stables are now an arts centre. Around there the lanes are narrower and parking is limited. The Grand Junction Canal of 1800 runs through, which also restricts access in places.
