Rubbish Removal in Loughton

Loughton had 6,363 people across 2,418 households at the 2011 census, about a mile west of Central Milton Keynes. It is bounded by the A5 to the east, H5 Portway to the north, V4 Watling Street to the west and H6 Childs Way to the south — a neat grid square, and an easy run for us.

It is a historic village that became a modern neighbourhood when it was incorporated into the new city in the early 1970s, and much of the original village character was deliberately preserved. That leaves two quite different kinds of property side by side.

The old village streets mean narrow frontages, limited parking and stairs built before modern furniture; the surrounding new town housing means parking bays or driveways, wider doorways and room to load. The road name genuinely tells us more than the postcode about which vehicle and how many people to send.

There is a scheduled monument west of Loughton Manor — a medieval moated site with a fishpond and associated earthworks, the moat roughly 40 metres across. Properties near protected ground can have restrictions on where a vehicle may go, so it is worth mentioning.
